Walter Pincus’s Nov. 15 Fine Print column, “It may be time to rethink the CIA’s mission” [The Fed Page], was right on target. For years I have believed that the CIA has lost its focus as an intelligence, analysis and evaluation organization. Instead, it maintains its own private army and air force, in competition with the organizations that exist to handle military operations. It’s time for the president to pull the fangs of the CIA and return the organization to its fundamental purpose.
