I suggest The Post stop printing an often misused phrase, which recently appeared on the front of the Aug. 15 Sports section: “The sale of football tickets and fundraising will be the keys for Maryland as it looks to dig itself out of a financial hole.”

Unless the writer is quoting someone and the phrase must be used, please find another way to get a group or individual out of that hole, like “climbing.”

Barnes and Noble in Bethesda has a saying on its building from “anonymous”: When you’re in a hole, stop digging. Good advice.
