Drop the politics of ‘Downton Abbey’

Downton Abbey’s Elizabeth McGovern as Lady Cora and Hugh Bonneville as Lord Grantham. (Masterpiece)

In response to George F. Will’s Feb. 13 op-ed column, “Progressive noblesse oblige,” I would like to add that some of us watch “Downton Abbey” because of the beautiful scenery, glorious music, magnificent castle and period clothing and, of course, the intrigue, acted out so well by a cast of brilliant actors. Could we leave out bloody politics, as the British might put it with their marvelous accents, and enjoy an excellent show for the sake of it?
