The Feb. 26 Post contained three more letters to the editor about the name “Redskins” [“On the subject of name changes . . . ”]. While this “issue” may have some interest to a relatively small percentage of readers, the amount of coverage it has received in the letters section is absurd.
Letters on major issues, such as our dysfunctional Congress, government spending cuts and tax increases, the ever-growing income disparity and the war in Afghanistan, receive scant coverage compared with the obsession with the football team’s nickname.
Whoever decides which letters are published is doing an awful job of it. Maybe The Post should consider expanding the letters section, because, quite frankly, the readers’ views (whether I agree with them or not) are often more interesting and enlightening than is the predictable content of the Post’s columnists.
