Regarding the Aug. 10 editorial “Welfare politics”:
The criticism of the delegation of certain aspects of the welfare policy to the states appears to be at odds with the Republican Party policy of federalism, which advocates precisely such a delegation of federal powers to the states. It would appear that the heat of the campaign is blurring fundamental principles, especially if they are not based on facts.
