Regarding the Aug. 4 front-page article “Donor is assisting probe of governor”:
As a longtime Virginia resident and voter, I have followed the many recent articles about gifts received by Gov. Robert F. McDonnell and his family. It matters not to me that he has apologized and paid back the money. What concerns me is that he knowingly engaged in this kind of behavior in the first place.
Were these gifts illegal? That is for someone else to decide. But they show extremely poor judgment.
