As noted in the Oct. 31 Post, congratulations are in order to Adam LaRoche for his National League Gold Glove for brilliant work this season at first base for the Nationals [“Nationals’ LaRoche wins first Gold Glove,” Sports]. LaRoche and the Nats deserve great credit for a great season.
But how could The Post not write, beyond a simple listing of names, on the neighboring Baltimore Orioles winning three Gold Gloves: Matt Wieters at catcher, J.J. Hardy at shortstop and Adam Jones in center field. The Orioles also had a magical season, and their three Gold Glove winners deserve appropriate recognition. I write not only as a lifelong Orioles fan but also as a lifelong fan of the game. The Orioles and Wieters, Hardy and Jones deserve better.
