Humbug to last-minute Christmas deliveries

Regarding the Dec. 26 news article “UPS, FedEx snags delay Santa’s sleigh for some last-minute buyers ”:

Those folks who are disappointed that their presents to Grandma’s house were not delivered by Christmas have no one to blame but themselves. They could have avoided this fiasco by mailing packages prior to Dec. 22 — better known as “planning.”

The article describing delays at UPS and FedEx proved the old saw about why “buying local” is much better than purchasing holiday gifts on the Web. A gift in the hand is worth two in a truck.
