The Aug. 12 front page article “Romney picks a path” described the Norfolk ceremony in which Mitt Romney introduced Paul Ryan as his choice for running mate. The article noted that the announcement was made in “dramatic fashion . . . with each man stepping down the deck of the USS Wisconsin — a World War II-era battleship named for Ryan’s home state — to the soundtrack of the movie ‘Air Force One.’”
As a veteran of 21 years of active-duty service, I am offended when candidates, in this case Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan, who have never spent a single day in military service to their country, wrap themselves in a military mantle for blatantly political purposes.
