Regarding the March 24 letter “Red card for Montgomery schools”:

Although I am no longer involved in youth soccer, I spent many years coaching and managing several youth soccer teams for clubs in the Potomac area. I know that overuse of fields and lack of practice and play space is a huge problem, alleviating it with more fields is the only answer.

On several Thanksgivings we have enjoyed Nick Maravell’s organic turkeys, raised on land he rented from Montgomery County Schools that will soon be used for soccer fields. The need of thousands of Montgomery County kids for places to play outdoor sports has to outweigh the need of one individual to grow crops in the suburbs. Montgomery Soccer Inc. (MSI) has an outstanding reputation for providing a sports opportunity at reasonable cost for thousands of boys and girls of all abilities.
