Enough, enough! After days of extensive previews and then coverage of the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, we opened our newspaper on May 5 to more than four pages devoted to it [“The weekend we love to hate,” Style].
This event is not news. We are not in Los Angeles, inflated with “celebrity,” as it is now loosely defined. At most, the dinner and events merit The Post’s “quote of the week” and maybe one day of the Reliable Source’s half-page, but that is enough.
Local coverage should include events in the lives of the local population as a whole, not produce clippings for journalists to send to their moms. Leave the red carpet for the film folk, and tell us about the real world.
