Regarding the Aug. 12 editorial “A bold and stark choice”:
I’m perplexed by The Post’s use of the word “bold” to describe Mitt Romney’s choice of Paul Ryan as his running mate. Boldness is a quality associated with strength of mind and a willingness to stand firm against powerful forces. Mr. Romney displayed neither in following the wishes of a hard-right Republican base that loves Mr. Ryan’s plan to slash taxes on the wealthy and programs to aid poor, working- and middle-class Americans.
