Religious tolerance: The American way

I would like to thank Joe Lieberman for reminding Americans that candidates running for political offices should not be subjected to religious tests [“America’s promise to Romney,” op-ed, Oct. 4].

However, what made the op-ed piece even more appealing was the fact that the Connecticut senator, who is Jewish, praised the level of religious tolerance exhibited by the people of this country. As a Muslim, I can vouch for the tolerance of many Americans. So I urge my fellow citizens to not get sucked into the anti-Islamic rhetoric that is thrown around too often in this country.

It is good to be different. Otherwise, how can we practice tolerance?
