Reveling in the spell of Harry Potter

It was a pleasure for me to read the July 15 front-page article “The goodbye is cast” after not only having seen the midnight premiere of “Deathly Hallows Part 2” but also having been a Harry Potter fan since third grade in 2001.

The true magic of the Harry Potter series was always waiting for the next installment, and although future generations may read the books or watch the movies, the anticipation of waiting for the next part is gone in the age of instant gratification that reporter Monica Hesse described. An era is over.

I am fortunate to be part of the generation that grew up with Harry Potter; how fitting that the final movie was released less than a month after my high school graduation. However, the magic of reading that both Harry and author J.K. Rowling cast on me will remain for years to come. “Mischief managed,” indeed.
