Who influences campaigns with money?
The Sept. 26 news article “Political giving by teacher unions criticized” quoted Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney as saying, “We simply can’t have a setting where the teachers unions are able to contribute tens of millions of dollars to the campaigns of politicians, and then those politicians, when elected, stand across from them at the bargaining table.”
How is this different from corporations contributing tens of millions to politicians who, when elected, give out government contracts worth billions to the corporations that helped get them elected?
I have a deal for Mr. Romney. I think that teachers would be willing to stop contributing when all corporations stop doing so as well.
