Regarding Steve A. Brown’s Oct. 5 letter to the editor [“Whose fault is this shutdown?”]:
Americans faced a very clear choice about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in the 2012 election, between a man who wanted it implemented and a man who promised to repeal it as soon as he took office. This was arguably the foremost issue of the campaign. President Obama won by 5 million votes, and the Supreme Court, not exactly a bastion of liberalism, upheld the ACA as constitutional. Congressional Republicans have tried to repeal it more than 40 times without success. Mr. Brown failed to mention these inconvenient facts.
