Regarding the May 7 Metro article “Missing 83-year-old is found dead”:
As I drove home Monday night on the George Washington Parkway, my heart ached for Victoria Kong and her family. I saw the police and news media near Gravelly Point, and I had heard that police had found a body.
Fifteen years ago, my mother was lost at Montgomery Mall; one moment she was there, the next she was gone. My mother was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and looked perfectly okay to the outside world. However, if you spent a few minutes chatting with her, you became aware that all was not well. Fortunately, an astute sales assistant realized that Mom was lost.
Only a half-hour of agony for me; so much pain for the Kong family.
