Regarding Charles Krauthammer’s column on the presidential election [The way forward,” op-ed, Nov. 9]:

President Obama can’t hold a candle to certain elements of the Republican Party when it comes to “the darker arts of public persuasion.” That he triumphed despite the bigoted, antiquated and narrow-mindedness of said party makes his victory that much sweeter to those of us who supported him.
