In his Jan. 4 op-ed, “Don’t confuse crazy with evil,” Martin E.P. Seligman observed that after a lifetime studying the field of mental illness, “I have found that drugs and therapy offer disappointingly little additional help for the mentally ill than they did 25 years ago — despite billions of dollars in funding.” One sentence earlier, he declared, “I am all for more funding for mental-health care and research.”

How out of date I am! I thought that when programs didn’t do any good you were supposed to stop spending money on them.
