Where’s Israel’s health-care catastrophe?

The Post reported that Mitt Romney praised Israel’s health-care system during his recent visit there [“Romney applauds Israeli health-care system, but he may not like the details,” news, July 31]. As described in the article, the Israeli health-care system bears more than a passing resemblance to Obamacare.

Yet one of our political parties says the U.S. law must be repealed if we are to avoid an economic catastrophe. The article reported no such disaster to the Israeli economy; instead it stated that Israel’s system has “achieved high quality while paying lower costs.”

Could this be because, as researchers found, of Israel’s “strong government influence,” or have the Israelis succeeded where we are destined to fail because of their cultural superiority?
