The Aug. 14 Economy & Business article “The downsides of cheap corn” did not mention one key detail: Almost all U.S. corn is genetically modified . That means our farmers can’t sell it to some members of the European Union , China, Australia or many other countries where genetically modified foods are banned. Most Americans are not aware that genetically modified organisms are in our food and that the Food and Drug Administration does not require their labeling. If we grew real corn, we could sell it to more people.
