Voters divide straight down the middle on President Obama's recent statement that he supports allowing gays and lesbians to get married, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

NOTE: Results among African Americans are among fewer than 100 interviews, with a resulting margin of error of 12 percentage points. This Washington Post-ABC News poll was conducted by telephone May 9 to 13 2012, among a random national sample of 1,008 adults, including users of both conventional and cellular phones. The results from the full survey have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points and a four point error margin for the sample of 821 registered voters. Sampling, data collection and tabulation by SSRS of Media, Pa.
