One in three Americans are "disappointed" the U.S. Senate voted down gun control legislation last week and another 15 percent are "angry." Roughtly four in 10 had positive reactions, saying they are "very happy" or "relieved" that gun laws failed.

This Washington Post-Pew Research Center poll was conducted by telephone April 18 to 21 among a random national sample of 1,002 adults, including users of both conventional and cellular phones. The results from the full survey have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. Sampling, data collection and tabulation by Princeton Survey Research Associates International (PSRAI) of Princeton, NJ.
