Here's a fun treat that you can make for Mother's Day, without Mom's help.

You'll need 4 popsicle or craft sticks.

Make Ahead: The pops need at least 1 hour and 15 minutes' time in the freezer.

Servings: 4
  • 1/2 cup chopped (unsalted) nuts, dried fruit, shredded coconut or candy sprinkles, or any combination of those ingredients
  • 1/2 cup crushed graham crackers, gingersnaps, vanilla wafers or chocolate wafers, or any combination of those ingredients
  • 2 firm bananas, peeled and cut crosswise in half
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons fruit-flavored low-fat yogurt


Line a small baking sheet with aluminum foil, then lightly spray the foil with nonstick cooking oil spray.

Spread the chopped nuts, dried fruit, coconut or sprinkles (or a mixture) on one plate; spread the crushed graham crackers, gingersnaps, vanilla wafers or chocolate wafers (or a mixture) on a separate plate.

Insert a popsicle or craft stick firmly into the cut end of each banana half.

Working with one banana pop at a time, use a pastry brush or rounded table knife to coat the banana with the yogurt. Then roll it in the coatings of your choice, making sure the banana is completely covered. Place on the foil-lined baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining banana pops. (You may have some of the coatings left over.)

Transfer to the freezer; let them freeze for 15 minutes or until slightly firm, then wrap the pops individually or cover on the baking sheet with plastic wrap. Freeze for at least 1 hour before serving.
