Why She Matters
Susan Brooks was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Ind., and now resides in Carmel. She earned a bachelor's from Miami University and a law degree from Indiana University-Indianapolis. Brooks served as deputy mayor of Indianapolis under Mayor Steve Goldsmith from 1998 to 1999. She then practiced law for two years at Ice Miller in Indianapolis. Beginning in 2001, Brooks served six years as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. She then became senior vice president and general counsel for Ivy Tech Community College. She and her husband, David, have two children.
