Campaign spending: how candidates are using their money

In 2011, President Obama and the Democratic National Committee far outspent the Republican candidates vying to replace him. Obama has been raising money for the party because it can accept larger amounts from a single donor than his campaign can. The DNC has been spending to boost his reelection, including buying television ads attacking leading GOP candidate Mitt Romney. The data cover the period through Dec. 31. Read related article.
