(Congress Bio Directory)
A relatively low-key lawmaker, Wilson has been mistaken with other more prominent colleagues. In September 2009, his office fielded several calls when people confused him with Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) who accused President Obama of lying during a speech to Congress. In December 2007, the Ohio Democrat sent out a press release letting the world know the film "Charlie Wilson's War" was not about him -- though he did enjoy the movie.
Despite the confusion his last name has caused, Wilson has distinguished himself as a moderate Democrat, especially on social issues, and as one of the coal industry's most vocal champions in Congress.

Wilson was born in 1943 into a family that has been rooted in the Ohio River Valley for over a century.
A graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Wilson became a prominent local businessman, owning and managing the Wilson Funeral and Furniture Company and the Wilson Realty Co. over the course of four decades.
A member of the centrist Blue Dog Democrats, Wilson has been nonetheless typically loyal to his party since taking office. Through October 2009, he voted 98.1 percent of the time with Democrats during the 111th Congress. During his previous term, he voted with Democrats 95.4 percent of the time.
Wilson, an anti-abortion rights Democrat, voted against a bill that sought to provide federal funds for embryonic stem-cell research.
Wilson is closely aligned with several Ohio Democrats, including Gov. Strickland and Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). Among fellow representatives, Wilson has often voted similarly with Rep. Zack Space (D-Ohio), who is also a Blue Dog who entered the House in January 2007.
