Corrine Brown (D-Fla.)

U.S. Representative (since January 1993)

(Congress Bio Directory)

Why She Matters

Brown is the congresswoman for Florida's 3rd district. Controversial for her outspokenness and the ethics complaints against her, Brown has nevertheless won re-election nine times thanks in large part to her commitment to constituent services.

Brown's district has a large military presence and she often supports strong defense spending. From her seat on the House Veteran's Affairs Committee, she secured funding for new military cemeteries in her district. On the Transportation and Infrastructure panel, she has successfully helped strengthen port security.
