Daniel Shapiro

Shapiro has guided congressmen and presidents on national security and the Middle East for more than 15 years. In February 2011, he was named U.S. ambassador to Israel.
Shapiro is one of President Obama's most trusted Middle Eastern aides and has served with Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeff Feltman as special envoy to Syria, and accompanied Middle Eastern peacebroker George Mitchell on key trips to the region.
