President

Solidly Republican South Carolina went for Romney, awarding him its 9 electoral college votes, the Associated Press reported. Republicans hold all statewide elected offices in the Palmetto State and control both chambers of the state legislature.

House

Republican Tom Rice defeated Democrat Gloria Bromell Tinubu in the race for the newly created 7th District, according to a projection by the Associated Press. The contest was the most competitive of the seven House races in the Palmetto State.
