(Dino Rossi for Senate)
A highly-prized GOP recruit after losing the 2004 governor's race by 129 votes, Rossi needed some coaxing to challenge three-term incumbent Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). The most persuasive message, according to Rossi, came from newly-minted Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) who won in a state much more Democratic than Rossi's own.
But Rossi suffered another agonizingly close defeat in the excellent poliitcal climate for Republicans in 2010, losing to Murray by a very slim margin. (Follow results here).
