As former head of communications at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), Schultz helped keep Senate Democrats from losing the majority in the very precarious 2010 midterm eletcions.
His work was recognized, as the White House recruited him in May 2011 as associate communucations director. He will focus primarily on oversight issues, relating primarily to Rep. Darrell Issa's (R-Calif.) subpoena power as chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in Congress.
