After more than two decades of work on the Senate floor, Myrick is an expert in parliamentary policy. In 2010, he succeeded the retiring Lula Davis as secretary for the Democratic majority. "The secretary for the majority serves the entire Democratic caucus as the eyes, ears and brains of the Senate, explaining to senators how the chamber's byzantine rules can be used to help -- or hinder -- progress on the advancement of legislation," Paul Kane wrote in The Washington Post.
