Gene Green (D-Texas)

U.S. Representative (since January 1993)

(Congress Bio Directory)

Why He Matters

Green is widely renowned for getting things done, no matter how partisan the political climate. During the George W. Bush administration years, this Democratic representative of Texas' 29th district successfully secured passage of bills to improve emergency medical services in rural areas, increase research-and-development into tuberculosis, and increase funding for health centers to treat low-income populations.

Since arriving in Congress in 1993, he has worked to increase the minimum wage, job-training services, access to technology and to improve access to quality health care.
