Grand jury’s version of the Edwards saga

During John Edwards’s 2008 presidential campaign, he and an assistant solicited money from campaign donors to try to conceal his extramarital affair, according to the events alleged in a federal grand jury’s June 3 indictment. Edwards and his lawyers do not deny the payments but say the funds were not campaign contributions and, therefore, did not violate election law.
