U.S. Representative (since January 2011)

Why He Matters

As a longtime businessman and owner, Duncan campaigned in 2010 as an advocate for small business, limited government and decreased public spending. Named a "Taxpayer Hero" by Gov. Mark Sanford (R), he vowed to fight against higher taxes in an effort to create growth for businesses and jobs.

A former South Carolina representative, Duncan sought to fill the open House seat of Rep. Gresham Barrett (R) in South Carolina's 3rd district. Barrett mounted a gubernatorial bid, but was defeated in the primary by Nikki Haley (R). Duncan faced Jane Dyer (D), but prevailed in the solid Republican district

In His Own Words

"I'm a very conservative person and, in my philosophy, I believe the government is too large and government spends too much money. Those are really my focuses. We've got to get government back into the limited role our founders envisioned."
