Why She Matters

Dubbed the next Sarah Palin by her fans, Noem won South Dakota's at-large House seat in the 2010 midterm elections, beating out popular incumbent Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-S.D.).

Called a "made-for-Fox news star" by The Washington Post, Noem is a cattle-rancher who hunts elk, skins pheasants and shoots prairie dogs, and raises her two teenage daughters and a gaggle of nieces and nephews with her husband, Bryon.
