A former aide to President Bill Clinton, Berry has been a fiery fixture in his Arkansas district since 1997. He is known for passionate and sometimes partisan floor speeches, as well as a middle-of-the-road voting record that has drawn few serious challenges back home. In January 2009, he announced that he wouldn't be a candidate for reelection in 2010.
Republicans captured the seat on the way to regaining the House majority; Berry's successor was radio-station owner Rick Crawford (R), who beat Berry Chief of Staff Chad Causey (D).
