Noah Kroloff
Chief of Staff to Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano (since January 2009)
Kroloff's lucky break came in the form of visit to an old friend. Weeks into starting law school he hit it off with fellow guest Janet Napolitano , then attorney general of Arizona . The two have been working together ever since.
The Arizona State law school graduate led Napolitano's 2006 gubernatorial re-election campaign and served as a deputy chief of staff during the Arizona governor's second term. When Napolitano was tapped to join the Obama administration as Homeland Security secretary in December 2008, he came with her to D.C. He currently works 15-hour days as one of Napolitano's two chiefs of staff.

Kroloff was born in Waco Texas but grew up in Arizona. The son of a dental insurance CEO and a development director, Kroloff has always been interested in public service, though he wasn't sure what he hoped to do with that passion.
After graduating from high school in 1991, Kroloff moved to New Mexico, where he attended St. Johns University in Santa Fe. He graduated in 1995, and then took a job teaching math with Teach for America (TFA) in a struggling New York City school.
Kroloff has one main goal: executing DHS Secretary Napolitano's key priorities, which include counterterrorism, border security, illegal immigration, emergency preparedness, and unifying DHS.
His days consist of "meetings, and plans to improve border security, preparedness, terrorism," he said in an interview with WhoRunsGov.com. "They are all the key priorities in the course of the day. It's pretty much everything."
Kroloff obviously brings a long relationship with Napolitano to his position. He works closely with Napolitano's other chief of staff, Jan Lesher, who oversees operations.
Kroloff works in the same office as Brian de Vallance, who directed federal relations for the former governor. De Vallance is now a senior counselor to Napolitano.
