Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.)

U.S. Representative (since January 2011)

Why He Matters

In a year when an anti-incumbent wave swept political unknowns into the spotlight, a farmer from Frog Jump made it to Washington.

Fincher, who had long run his family's farming operation in west Tennessee, quickly won the endorsement of national Republicans when he decided to challenge moderate Democratic John Tanner (D-Tenn.) for the House seat in Tennessee's 8th district. Taking the seat from Democrats was key in the Republicans' pursuit of a House majority.
