Why He Matters
Steve Bullock was born in Missoula, Mont., and raised in Helena, where he now resides. He earned a bachelor's from Claremont McKenna College and a law degree from Columbia University Law School. After a stint at a private law firm, Bullock took a job in the mid-1990s as legal counsel for the Montana secretary of state. He worked for the state attorney general's office until 2001, when he returned to private practice in Washington, D.C., and Helena. Bullock was elected attorney general of Montana in 2008. He and his wife, Lisa, have three children.
