Overview

The under secretary oversees several bureaus, including the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the International Information Programs Office and the Bureau of Public Affairs.

She is responsible for supervising all public diplomacy efforts, including outreach to international audiences, educational and cultural exchanges and international information programs. She also oversees the department's communications and press efforts.
