National Tourism Director, National Park Service
Dean Reeder, National Tourism Director of the National Park Service, has blended a private sector hotel and resort management and development background with public sector tourism, recreation, and economic development. He holds a MBA from the David Eccles School of Business (University of Utah) and is a Visiting Research Fellow at Renmin University of China.
Before joining NPS, Reeder served as Utah’s state travel director for eleven years. While in that capacity he was active in several regional efforts having chaired the Colorado Plateau Forum, the Western States Tourism Policy Council, and a Western Governors Association Advisory Board.
In addition to his park service duties, Reeder sits on the board of Destination DC, chairing its marketing committee. And former Secretary of Commerce, Gary Locke, appointed him to chair the Sustainable Tourism Working Group under the Tourism Policy Council.
