Co-founder and CEO, Select Milk Producers
We look at every aspect of our farm, [including] how to reduce that amount of electricity. How do we take this manure from this cow, put it in a digester, get local waste, add it to that digester, produce gas, take that gas and clean it, run generators that run 100 percent of the electricity to the farm. But not only that — we figured out a way to run 42 milk trucks and take 12 million miles off the road of diesel and substitute that with a renewable fuel. So these are the things that start creating a source of income in an area that was a waste and a liability for us. And, now, we’ve created a source of income. What all that does, it drives down the price of our product to the consumer.
