Senior Writer for “She the People”: Nia-Malika Henderson

February 6, 2014

Announcement from National Editor Cameron Barr, Deputy National Editor Anne Kornblut and She the People Editor Vanessa Williams:

We are excited to announce that Nia-Malika Henderson has moved to a new role as senior writer for She The People, where she will strengthen our coverage of women in the midterms. Nia just finished a run as host of On Background, a daily show on Post TV in which her interview subjects ranged from the Cookie Monster to California Attorney General Kamala Harris to astronauts on the International Space Station.

Nia, who joined The Post in 2010, covered the many of the candidates in the Republican primary during the last presidential election, writing about Newt Gingrich’s Southern swagger, Ron Paul’s doomsday approach to the campaign speech and Mitt Romney’s attempts to court black voters. She also kicked off the Election 2012 blog. Nia is a frequent contributor to the political talk shows on network and cable television.

Her experience makes Nia particularly suited to bolster the blog’s political content, especially in this important election cycle when women are strong candidates in several high profile contests. Nia will coordinate her efforts with the politics team and do videos to chronicle what she calls The Year of the Woman 2.0.

Before joining The Post, Nia wrote about education, race and the White House for Politico and covered the 2008 presidential election for Newsday. Nia holds a degree in cultural anthropology from Duke University and is a proud Blue Devil.

Please join us in congratulating her on her new role.
