Kerry Lauerman joins The Post in senior editor role

June 4

Kerry Lauerman joins The Post.

Announcement from Executive Producer/Sr. Editor for Digital News Cory Haik, Executive Editor Marty Baron, Managing Editor Kevin Merida and Managing Editor Emilio Garcia-Ruiz:

We are excited to announce that Kerry Lauerman will be joining the Post in a senior editor role, leading a new mobile initiative. Kerry comes to us after diving into the world of technology start-ups, having launched an animal news site called The Dodo and helping it to quickly build an audience.

Kerry is the former editor-in-chief of Salon.com. During more than a decade at Salon, he worked as the site’s culture editor, Washington bureau chief, and founder of Open Salon, the pioneering blog network. Before joining Salon, he worked as an editor at Mother Jones magazine, The New York Times Magazine and the late Forbes ASAP. His first job was at the Owensboro (KY.) Messenger-Inquirer.

Kerry’s strong editing skills, the vast range of his experience, and his time spent building new products and luring new readers make him especially well-equipped for an initiative focused on the fast-growing mobile readership. Kerry brings to our mobile ambitions the perfect blend of innovation and journalistic chops, as well as a collaborative spirit.

Kerry will start July 7 and will report to Cory Haik.
