Sports staff welcomes Glenn Yoder

August 11

Announcement from Matthew Vita, Sports Editor:

We are very happy to announce that Glenn Yoder will be joining Sports as an editor/producer on the night desk. Glenn is currently Sports Editor at boston.com, where he oversees sports coverage for the highly popular website. He helped implement a major redesign of boston.com and helped restructure the site when it became an independent entity from the Boston Globe and BostonGlobe.com. Glenn’s a graduate of Northeastern University. In his nearly 10 years at the Globe, he has written for the Food section, reviewed restaurants and covered popular music; been a producer and writer, working in features, Arts & Entertainment, Travel and Lifestyle; and been editor-in-chief of BDCwire, a Going Out Guide-style vertical that targets younger readers. He became Sports Editor at boston.com earlier this year.

Glenn’s impressive and diverse array of work experience is bolstered by his creative thinking about finding new ways to connect with readers on digital platforms through timely, visually appealing posts on blogs, and through social media. Glenn has been both a writer and editor, sometimes in the same jobs, and demonstrated an ability to multitask and think quickly on deadline. We are confident he will be a huge asset to our department. And on top of everything, he has a great little folk-rock band, Glenn Yoder & the Western States, that we hope will be playing the D.C. area sometime soon.

Glenn starts with us on Sept. 2.
