D.C.-  area foodies looking to explore uncharted territory need look no further than Montgomery County, Maryland, home to more than 900 restaurants from a diverse range of cultures and cuisines. Food festivals are an annual celebration in county, taking place in its most popular districts and showcasing its local restaurants. Here’s a look at the can’t miss food events this summer.



Join the town of Poolesville for their 4th annual BBQ, Beer and Blues Festival on Saturday, May 17, from 2:00 to 7:00 pm. There’s nothing like a small town weekend festival, good food and great entertainment to get you in the mood for summer! This year’s family-friendly event features artisan and food vendors, live performances from bands like Moondog Medicine Show and Nighthawks, a corn hole tournament, backyard BBQ competition and more. Regular admission is FREE; Admission to beer/wine tent is $20.


The Taste of Wheaton will be held on Sunday, June 8, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. This food festival, popular with both residents and visitors alike, highlights the deliciously diverse restaurants in the area. The 19th annual event will take place in Downtown Wheaton at the Wheaton Triangle on the corner of Grandview Avenue and Reedie Drive (one block north of the Wheaton Metro station).


Enjoy the best wines from across the state, as well as cooking demonstrations and two stages of musical entertainment at one of Rockville’s most popular events. This event will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2014 in Rockville Town Square. Admission is free for concerts and cooking demonstrations.


On October 11, 2014, the renowned food and music festival, The Taste of Bethesda will feature more than 50 delicious Bethesda area restaurants. The festival also features four stages of musical and cultural entertainment. The event is held along Norfolk, Fairmont, St. Elmo, Cordell and Del Ray Avenues in Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle. Taste of Bethesda is located just three blocks from the Bethesda Metro.


Put your best foot forward on October 4, 2014! Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard is the only vineyard/winery in Montgomery County, Maryland. Their annual Stomp Festival features grape stomping contests, wine tastings of white and Bordeaux style red wines, tours of Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard ‘s winery and vineyard, food vendor and live music.
