Washington Mystics-Seattle Storm preview

John McDonnell/The Washington Post - Washington’s Monique Currie, right, drives on Tulsa’s Jennifer Lacy during a Mystics home victory last month.

Mystics at Storm

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Key Arena, Seattle. Records: Washington 2-7; Seattle 4-7.

Unlucky 13: Washington concludes its three-game West Coast trip with a visit to Seattle, where the Mystics haven’t won since 2005. In fact, Washington has gone 13 straight games away from Verizon Center without a victory. The Mystics are one of three teams in the WNBA without a road win this season.

Late-game issues: Each game, it seems, the Mystics solve one problem only to have another come to the forefront. After fixing its turnover issues, committing just 10 against Phoenix on Wednesday, Washington failed once again to close out a winnable game in an 80-77 loss to the Mercury. The Mystics led by five with 2 minutes 26 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter but managed just one field goal down the stretch.

Currie awakening? Team captain Monique Currie has had an uneven season and was relegated to the bench by Coach Trudi Lacey the past three games. But Currie appears to be adjusting to the new role, following up an 11-point showing against Los Angeles last week by scoring a season-high 20 points on Wednesday.
