Jerick McKinnon ran for three touchdowns and threw two more and Georgia Southern posted its eighth 300-yard rushing game of the season in a 69-26, nonconference win over Howard on Saturday in Statesboro, Ga.
McKinnion completed 2 of 4 passes, both for touchdowns, and gained 198 rushing yards on 16 carries. The quarterback entered the game needing 145 rushing yards to become the third Eagle (8-2) in the past three years to reach the 1,000 yard mark.
Howard (5-4) struggled to stop the Football Championship Subdivision’s top rushing attack, as four Eagles went over 60 rushing yards. The Bison were led by Greg McGhee, who ran for three touchdowns and threw for another.
●GEORGETOWN 10, BUCKNELL 3: Stephen Skon hit Kevin Macari for a 28-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter for what proved to be the difference maker as the Hoyas topped the Bison at Multi-Sport Field.
The score came at the end of a nine play, 80-yard drive. Skon completed 5 of 5 passes on the drive for 92 yards, including a pair of passes to Macari, who finished the day with seven grabs for 71 yards.
Skon was 19-of-29 passing for 231 yards and the score. Macari’s touchdown put Georgetown (5-5, 2-2 Patriot League) up 10-0 following Matt MacZura’s 20-yard field goal in the first quarter.
The Bison (2-8, 0-5) managed just 168 yards of offense and seven first downs to Georgetown’s 22.
●VILLANOVA 35, JAMES MADISON 20: Kevin Monangai ran for 150 yards while John Robertson rushed two touchdowns and threw for another as the Wildcats (7-3, 5-2 Colonial Athletic Association) beat the visiting Dukes (7-3, 5-2).
●RICHMOND 23, DELAWARE 17: Kendall Gaskins carried 27 times for 83 yards with two touchdowns to help the host Spiders (7-3, 5-2 CAA) knock off the Blue Hens (5-5, 2-5).
●OLD DOMINION 41, WILLIAM & MARY 31: Taylor Heinicke threw four touchdowns and Tyree Lee ran for 166 yards as the Monarchs (9-1, 6-1 CAA) rallied from a 31-27 deficit to beat the Tribe (2-8, 1-6).
●●BRIDGEWATER 42, CATHOLIC 14: Six turnovers proved costly for the host Cardinals (3-7, 2-5 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) in their loss to the Eagles (7-3, 4-3). Willie Logan passed for 245 yards and ran for 97 for Bridgewater.
●SHEPHERD 49, FAIRMONT STATE 23: The host Rams (8-2, 7-1) clinched the outright West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title by beating the Fighting Falcons (4-6, 4-4). Shepherd senior quarterback Bobby Cooper (South River) completed 27 of 38 passes for a school-record 430 yards and three touchdowns.
●GALLAUDET 21, MARITIME 0: Nick Elstad threw two touchdown passes to Ryne Worsham and Tony Tatum had an 80-yad interception return for a touchdown as the Bison (7-3, 5-2 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference) held the Privateers (3-6, 2-4) to 144 yards in a shutout win in Throggs Neck, N.Y.
